# Computer prices

> What a computer costs on your plan and by the hour, and when each is cheaper.

A computer is paid for one of two ways: on your plan, or by the hour from your credit. A paid account's new computer uses the plan when it fits the vCPU and RAM the plan has left; a bigger one runs by the hour. A free account runs computers by the hour. [Plans and billing](https://docs.orgo.ai/guides/billing.md) covers plans, credit and invoices.

## On your plan

Each paid plan includes vCPU and RAM that all of the account's computers share. Past that, add capacity to your account at these rates:

| | Monthly | Yearly |
| - | - | - |
| RAM | \$2.50 per GB | \$25 per GB |
| vCPU | $5 per vCPU ($2.50 per half vCPU) | $50 per vCPU ($25 per half vCPU) |
| Disk | \$1 per 20 GB | \$10 per 20 GB |
| Windows | \$15 per Windows computer (included on Scale) | \$150 per Windows computer |

A whole computer's worth of capacity, all three together:

| Size | vCPU | RAM | Disk | Per month |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| Small | 0.5 | 4 GB | 20 GB | \$13.50 |
| Medium | 2 | 8 GB | 40 GB | \$32 |
| Large | 4 | 16 GB | 80 GB | \$64 |
| XL | 6 | 32 GB | 150 GB | \$118 |
| 2XL | 8 | 64 GB | 300 GB | \$215 |

2XL is set up on request. Add capacity in **Settings → Plan & billing**, or with [Add capacity](https://docs.orgo.ai/api-reference/account/add-capacity.md).

## By the hour

Linux computers by the hour, from your credit. The running price covers vCPU, RAM and disk. A stopped computer pays only for its disk.

| Size | vCPU | RAM | Disk | Running | Stopped |
| - | - | - | - | - | - |
| Small | 0.5 | 4 GB | 20 GB | \$0.03/hr | \$0.002/hr |
| Medium | 2 | 8 GB | 40 GB | \$0.06/hr | \$0.004/hr |
| Large | 4 | 16 GB | 80 GB | \$0.12/hr | \$0.008/hr |
| XL | 6 | 32 GB | 150 GB | \$0.24/hr | \$0.015/hr |
| 2XL | 8 | 64 GB | 300 GB | \$0.48/hr | \$0.03/hr |

Time is billed a minute at a time. A computer with an end prepays its whole run when it starts, and what it does not use comes back to your credit. The New computer sheet shows the price for the size you pick before you launch.

## Which is cheaper

A plan is cheaper for a computer that is always on. Run all month (730 hours), an hourly Medium is $43.80, against $32 as plan capacity. By the hour is cheaper for a computer that runs less: under about 530 hours a month for a Medium or Large, and under about 450 for a Small or 2XL, which is roughly 15 to 17 hours a day.
