# Scale to thousands of computers

> Give every one of your users their own computer, and add capacity from code as you grow.

A platform that gives each of its users a computer grows one computer at a time. You can add the capacity for them from code, the moment you need it, with the [capacity API](/api-reference/account/capacity).

## Check what fits, then add it

```python theme={null}
import os, uuid, requests
API = "https://www.orgo.ai/api"
headers = {"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['ORGO_API_KEY']}"}
capacity = requests.get(f"{API}/account/capacity", headers=headers).json()
free = capacity["computers"]["limit"] - capacity["computers"]["in_use"]
if free < 10:
    requests.post(
        f"{API}/account/capacity",
        headers={**headers, "Idempotency-Key": str(uuid.uuid4())},
        json={"size": "medium", "count": 50},
    ).raise_for_status()
```

Then create computers as usual with [Create computer](/api-reference/computers/create).

## Things to know

* **Use an account-wide key.** Capacity is billed to the whole account, so a workspace-scoped key is refused.
* **Send an `Idempotency-Key` with every purchase.** A retry with the same key returns the first answer and never buys twice.
* **Price it first** with `"dry_run": true` if you want to show or log the charge.
* **Up to 30 added computers on your own.** Past that the API answers `403` `capacity_cap`. [Ask us](mailto:support@orgo.ai) and we raise it for your account, to thousands of computers, at the same prices.
* **Give capacity back** with [Reduce capacity](/api-reference/account/reduce-capacity). It takes effect at the next renewal.
